Have you heard of Atsumi Peninsula Brewery, a microbrewery that opened in 2025 in Tahara City, Aichi Prefecture, where Irago Ocean Resort is located?
Irago Ocean Resort has collaborated with Atsumi Peninsula Brewery, which produces unique craft beers using local agricultural products.
We are pleased to announce the birth of our original craft beer ☺️✨
This time, we will introduce a part of the process of making delicious craft beer.
Let me show you how I helped out!
I went to help with the mashing in mid-February!
Mashing is the first step in the beer brewing process, and is the process of extracting the sugars and nutrients from the malt. The crushed malt is mixed with warm water, and enzymes are used to break down the starch into sugar. This creates a sweet "wort," which forms the base of the beer.
At this point, the sweet aroma of barley is already in the air.
After this, the hot water temperature is kept constant (64°C), the pH is adjusted, and the fermentation is adjusted, and it will be completed in about a month!
The first collaboration is the golden ale "KAO."
Golden Ale is characterized by its beautiful clear gold color, refreshing citrus hop aroma, and mild malt sweetness.
It is a refreshing, easy-to-drink craft beer with little flavor, making it easy to pair with any dish.
The original craft beer "KAO" will be on sale at the Sarasu Shop on the 3rd floor from Thursday, February 26, 2026!
