Cape Irago Lighthouse
This chalk-white lighthouse stands at the very tip of the Atsumi Peninsula, overlooking the Pacific Ocean with its pulsating Kuroshio Current and the calm azure waves of Mikawa Bay. Built in 1929, it has continued to ensure the safety of ships plying the sea. In 1998, it was selected as one of the "50 Best Lighthouses of Japan" as a memorable lighthouse.

Koijigahama Beach
From the lighthouse to the Hinode Stone Gate, which faces the Pacific coast, is a beautiful sandy beach that curves with the rough waves of the Pacific Ocean. This beach has also been selected as one of the "Top 100 in Japan" (roads, beaches, white sand and green pines, soundscapes).

Hii no Sekimon
The Hii no Sekimon, which was formed by the erosion of the rough waves of the Pacific Ocean, has two stone gates, one offshore and one on the shore, and as its name suggests, shows a beautiful silhouette at sunrise. Migratory birds at Cape Irago
Many migratory birds can be seen at Cape Irago from mid-September to early November. Among them, the particularly spectacular migration of hawks reaches its peak in early October, and on busy days, as many as 2,000 hawks can be seen filling the sky with the air as they fly one after the other towards the Shima Peninsula on the opposite shore.

Illuminated Chrysanthemum
Electric illuminated chrysanthemums are grown by artificially lengthening the hours of daylight in autumn to delay the flowering period so that the flowers can be shipped between New Year's and the spring equinox, when demand is highest. There are many illuminated chrysanthemum houses on the Atsumi Peninsula, where you can see beautiful night views.

Irago Todaiji Temple Tile Kiln Site
This is one of the Atsumi Ancient Kilns, where production was active from the Heian to Kamakura periods, and three pit kilns have been preserved. This is the site of the kilns where tiles were fired when Todaiji Temple in Nara was rebuilt in Kamakura, and tiles such as round and flat roof tiles and flat roof tiles engraved with "Todaiji Daibutsuden tiles," as well as religious items such as tiled sutras and tiled towers have been excavated.

Manyo poems and monuments
The monument stands at the tip of the cape, on the slope of an old mountain behind the lighthouse. The inscription on the monument is a poem written by Suzuki Suiken, which was composed by the imperial family of the Temmu Dynasty Omino Okimi, when they were exiled to Irago, entitled "Utsusemi no inochi wo oshimi nami ni nure Irago no shima no tamamo karikusu" (The Manyoshu, vol. 1).

Palm Tree Monument
In the summer of 1898, the folklorist Kunio Yanagita stayed in Irago for about a month and a half. When he told his close friend Toson Shimazaki about a coconut he picked up, this story became the basis for the lyric poem about coconuts, "A single coconut washed up from a nameless, faraway island..."

Near the entrance to the Irago Seaside Golf Club, there is a monument bearing this haiku by Basho. This is a haiku that Basho wrote in November 1687 when he visited his beloved disciple Morikuni, who was living in seclusion in the village of Homi, and enjoyed a relaxing stroll around Cape Irago.

Tahara Municipal Museum exhibits materials related to Watanabe Kazan, a pioneer of the late Edo period. Ise Shrine
Ise Jingu, affectionately called "Oise-san," is officially called "Jingu." It has long been known as the "Matsushima of the Tokai" and its 6km shoreline is rich in variety, consisting of over a dozen islands of various sizes, making it a true "work of art created by nature."

Kamishima Island
Kamishima is an island located at the mouth of Ise Bay, with a circumference of 3.9 km and an area of 0.76 km², and belongs to Toba City, Mie Prefecture. You can also enjoy seafood here, and it is close to Irago, so it is perfect for a half-day trip.
